Day 65▪️ Couch Potatoes 🥔 .
.
Yesterday was a semi-productive day. Mostly operations and finance stuff but I did get a chance to get some client coding in before heading to a meeting at the end of the day 👨🏽‍💻🐶👩🏽‍💻
.
.
Staying home tonight to spend some time with the pup before we are away for half the week so I’ll be catching up on some JS stuff (per usual). ✌🏼

Days 61, 62, 63 & 64▪️ Team Work Makes the Dream Work 🤝
.
.
So the past four days have definitely been super productive as I was hoping they would be. I finished the new build and it is with our intern to populate with content before we get into QAT. I been reviewing all of my JS notes and taking some quizzes to ease myself back into the JS mindset before continuing my education. 👩🏽‍💻✌🏼
.
.
In this picture, you can see myself and one of my Account Producers during our daily standup. Its important to check in with your team on a consistent basis, find out what each person needs individually, it may be daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly - but that one-on-one time is important from a leadership and growth standpoint. 🙌🏻
.
.
I have been really bad about consistent posting lately, so in order to help myself be more consistent I am going to post about the day before instead of the current day. I think this should help but Ill give it a try for a while and see how it works out. 🤔

Days 58, 59 & 60▪️ Good to be Home 🏡 .
.
The past two days have been tough on a personal level as I had to travel down to Atlanta to help my grandma transition from the hospital to a rehab facility. It was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting especially because I still had to make sure work was getting done at the agency, and I still had to fulfill client requests as they came in. I made sure to wake up extra early (earlier than I normally do) so I can get a lot done before distractions started to come in, and sometimes that is what you have to do when you have personal things to handle, but you still have your business to run. ✈️
.
.
Now that I am home I am so happy to be back into my routine. I am working on my bullet journal setup for August (I will talk about that in another post!), and I have the whole weekend open to finalize this new build and then fully focus on JS learning - for real this time! 💪🏼🔥

Days 56 & 57▪️ Hump Dayyy 🐪
.
.
Currently packing for my trip to Atlanta to spend a couple of days with my grandma. Will be working a bit but the focus is on client development still. Lots of new requests on a project we are wrapping up on. .
.
Meanwhile, my dog, Buddy is making sure I don’t cause any regression with my coding updates. .

Days 54 & 55▪️ Case of the Monday’s 👩🏽‍💻
.
.
Worked from home today after having to run some errands for most of the morning. Our team just migrated from Trello to Jira Core as our project management tool so I spent some time reviewing issues in there and then closed out a few things. 👍🏼
.
.
Tackled a few client issues, nothing too exciting. Planning on doing some JS quizzes by going backwards tonight to make sure I am still in good shape with moving forward since I have been on such a long break from it. Definitely looking forward to going to bed early so I can have a productive Tuesday. 🙏🏼

Day 51, 52 & 53▪️ Saturday Productivity ☀️ .
.
Happy Saturday fellow devs! Hope your day is as sunny as it is out here in central Connecticut 🇺🇸. .
.
Had a super productive two days at the office working on a bunch of different things but most importantly focusing on the new site build for my client in Philly. 👩🏽‍💻
.
.
Woke up this morning feeling productive so was able to get a few templates done for both desktop and mobile. Looking forward to finishing this project so I can refocus my spare time on JS learning. Not that I can’t complete the work at the office but when I have a project I know I can get done relatively quickly I prefer just getting it done so I can focus on other things. Plus it’s always nice to submit work to a client early 😉

Day 50 ▪️ Halfway There ✔️
.
.
So close yet so far! It’s been a great 50 days, I’ve learned so much and I have really enjoyed being a part of this amazing community of developers. 😊
.
.
Thank you to everyone who follows me, comments and likes my posts, and engages with my stories. Looking forward to the next 50 days!! 🍻

Got back from the conference today. It was really a great learning experience and a great break from the daily grind. Excited to get into the office tomorrow and share my learnings with the @lumiagency and @lumiluxeagency teams. 💪🏼 For now just wrapping up code updates and answering emails (maybe some 🍷 too 😉). .

What have you learned lately? 🤓 #100daysofcode #aeadc.

Days 46, 47, 48 & 49 ▪️ Long insta break and An Event Apart ✌🏼
.
.
Wow, I truly did not realize how long it’s been since I posted. I inadvertently took an insta break over the weekend to make sure our new site launch for a @lumiagency client went well on Monday while I was out of the office. I usually under-estimate the amount of preparation needed for a site launch, so I took the extra time over the weekend to properly prepare for it. 💯
.
.
Fast forward to 4:30am Monday morning, when I was waking up to get my things and hop on a quick 1 hour 15 min plane ride to DC for An Event Apart, a design conference hosted by the website AListApart.com, a site I have been loyally reading for the past 5-6 years. ✈️
.
.
Day 1, part 1 was solely focused on designing inclusively. I learned a lot about designing for different personality types, which I found very helpful. Day 1, part 2 was focused on CSS. I was really excited for Eric Meyer to speak, since I read his book, but to be honest I was very disappointed. His entire hour talk titled “Generation Style” was about CSS Generated Content or more specifically using ::before and ::after, which ok cool, but he never really got to the exact point of why that is a good thing (not to mention its bad for accessibility). The other two talks on CSS were much better and I grabbed some great tips to go back and use on optimizing conversions and overall user experience for @lumiluxeagency clients. 🤓
.
.
Day 2 started and part 1 is focused on animations. I am surprised and appreciative that a lot of this event is focused just as much on coding as it is design, because I have been trying to focus our web work more on movement and usability that just strict aesthetic and these talks have really been validating that way of thinking. Will update on part 2 tomorrow. 👩🏽‍💻

Days 44 & 45 ▪️ Real stories about Entrepreneurship #sponsored ✌🏼 @indie_hackers
.
.
Spreadsheets on one screen, and code on another. Many people think that when they start a business they can just keep doing what they are good at, but the reality is, most of the time you’re going to have to do things you are really bad at. While I am a resource to my team members, and I still code for clients, and internal projects, in reality I do a lot less of this and spend a majority of my time focusing on operations, finance and employee management. 📊
.
.
I was recently featured on the @indie_hackers account, and had the opportunity to share a bit of my story about how I started my first business, got my first full-time job as a developer, and then started @lumiagency. While most people like to glorify what it means to be an entrepreneur, @indie_hackers features the reality behind it. The struggles, the inspiration, the uncertainty, and the constant rollercoaster of emotions you experience day after day. 🎢

If you are interested in being an entrepreneur, starting your own business, or you want to be inspired by some amazing people, please follow the @indie_hackers account! And thank you to @indie_hackers for sharing my story. 🙌🏼

Days 42 & 43 ▪️ When the pup wants to crash your picture, you let him 🐶. Haven’t had the chance this week to tackle the dreaded ‘For’ Loop yet, but thanks to all of your comments, advice and encouragement I am excited to get back into it and really focus on this phase of my JS education because I now fully understand how important it is. This will be what I focus on the rest of the week. 🤙🏼
.
In the meantime, I have been getting a lot done for the @lumiagency and @lumiluxeagency clients. Will never complain about having to do a lot of client work because that is what pays the bills. In between tasks I have been working on organizing my local directories and repositories better for easier transitions between branches and deployment processes. I think this will always be a work in progress, but I am liking the new structure using the @wpengine devkit. 🙌🏼
.
After a productive day of getting client work done, and getting my inbox from over 20 emails down to inbox zero (and then back up to 12 emails again an hour later, but who’s counting?), it was great to be able to relax at the park in town with my husband and some friends eating lobster rolls and enjoying live music outdoors. 🎶 🦞 .

Day 41 ▪️ WTF is a ‘For’ loop? 4️⃣🌀
.
.
So after a super fun and productive Saturday, I am feeling extremely lazy today and can’t keep myself focused. Got through a few videos and quizzes fine, but then, after a while I realized I had to watch the same video about 5 times and still was unable to articulate anything that I am watching, so I am cutting myself off at 1 hour for today. Also... why are there so many different kinds of Loops?
.
.
Loops have been a bit difficult for me for a while (pun intended) now. I am grasping the ‘While’ and the ‘Do While’ Loops, but the ‘For’ Loop is giving me some trouble at the moment. It just seems like an overall cleaner way to code, which is fantastic, but I am thinking I need to grasp the other concepts better before getting into this one too much.
.
.
What are your thoughts? Are ‘For’ Loops super important in JS? Am I missing their function completely? Should I be focusing on this, or moving on to the next topic? #100daysofcode.

Day 40 ▪️ Slow Saturday .
.
After my crazy day yesterday I definitely to come home and keep my computer in my backpack. In order to destress a bit, I cooked dinner, made a good drink and chilled on the couch with my husband and pup, Buddy. 🐶 .
.
Turns out a relaxing, early night was exactly what I needed because I woke up really looking forward to getting some JS tutorials in. There’s nothing better than a nice big cup of coffee, a clean desk, and a tutorial on Loops, Arrays and Objects on a Saturday morning... am I right? 🤣 .
.
Should be able to get in a solid hour of coding before heading to a lazy afternoon floating down the Farmington river, because that’s about all you can do when it’s 100 degrees outside. ☀️ .
.
What are your Saturday plans? #100daysofcode.
