Thanks for all the love shown to my last video post... so happy it reached such an audience. I’ll slow it down and add instructions for Youtube. I’ve been busy in the studio but it feels good to see the efforts of my work at the end of each day.
I have a new video up on my YouTube channel! (Link in bio) Nicki and Bindi and I went camping in July and I totally forgot that I’d taken some cute little clips of our trip, including some plein air painting I did. It’s just a cute, short, mellow video. Documenting little adventures is something I really enjoy. I can be a bit of a sentimentalist and having videos of good memories is really comforting for me. I had a friend recently pick on me for “waisting the moment by taking a picture or a video”. They said I was “to focused on my phone and taking the photo to be really enjoying and living in the moment.” And it made me second guess my love of taking photos of friends and pretty things I see and moments of happiness in life. Particularly now that I’m moving away from everyone and everything I’m familiar with. Am I waisting my last moments in California taking photos of the things a and people I’m going to miss instead of only experiencing it for what it is with my eyes? Does that taint those moments and memories? I really don’t think so. I think I just see things as beautiful and worthy of capturing. Like with painting. And I think if photos and videos of moments I’ve loved bring my comfort and happiness, particularly in times of major life transition like our move 2500 miles from home, I think it’s safe to say documenting life is a pass time i don’t need to worry about or be ashamed of.
