“Can we talk?, he somehow mumbled under his breath, which was heavy with the fear of losing her. She didn't utter a word. Their egos fought for dominance, while their hearts suffered for the love they craved.
He couldn't take it anymore. "You know, I always considered you a part of my story, written with love in each and every chapter, but I never imagined that you only desired a few lines of it. You never spoke about anything and everything you liked or disliked. And now, you expect me to embrace the change in you, just cause I loved you for who you were."
She interrupted him abruptly, as if something which was killing her soul was screaming to be out. "Well yes, I do expect you to love me, but only the way you used to, not the way you pretend to now. If I have changed in a way you cannot comprehend, you too have changed. You know, you were the same person who understood what I felt by just gazing into my eyes, and now, you don't even understand things when I speak directly. You know what, we just changed with time. And the sad truth is, we never expressed what we felt, cause we expected each other to understand everything. And now, it's just chaotic", she spoke her heart out, and felt good after a long time.
With tears in his eyes, he accepted the truth. He realised how time changed them, and how their love was lost with the pace of the life. He now understood what it takes to keep up with people. And sadly, he knew that he couldn't keep up with her, and neither could she, for their expectations drowned them until their very doom.
He felt tired. "Well, I guess it's time to leave. Good luck for the future", and with this, he felt his voice collapse with tears.
She was in tears too. "Good bye!", was all she could utter. He hugged her for the very last time, and walked away, leaving behind the silence which held the worst of pain” - #cognition_7#overthinking#marriage#change#lovelanguage#perception#positivevibesonly ...
