Let’s be real...There’s a lot of “noise” on the internet about food, and a lot of information that is not 100% accurate.⠀

This is why it’s so important that you stay informed! If you look at the image, you will find 3 pretty good examples of the issue that exists around diet culture...yes, almonds are delicious, and a healthy snack, but compared to other things (like dark chocolate for example) they can be as heavy or heavier calorie wise than your favorite 🍫 bar. So...are almonds really 100% better than dark chocolate? They could be, yes, but not necessarily. It all depends in your personal goals, and on what your body wants. ⠀

If you’re tracking calories for example, eating a 200 cal bar of dark  chocolate as a snack could be better than 400 cal of almonds. Also, in diet culture, a lot of people recommend that you eat certain foods, like blueberries, but if you don’t like them, or if you just don’t want to eat them, you don’t have to. There are so many other ways you can get your nutrients and your antioxidants...⠀

Just remember, there are so many options for you out there, you don’t have to listen to this noise. Instead listen to your body. Eat intuitively, stay active and be happy. ⠀

A very common piece of nutrition around the world is to ‘eat a balanced diet’. You know I eat & encourage you to eat all food groups…

The human body & all of its impressive mechanisms are quite complex, meaning that it requires a variety of nutrients in order to function optimally. What we eat is essential for meeting these needs. Macronutrients help us grow, develop, repair, give us energy, and make us feel good. They each have their own role and functions in the body.

The 3 macronutrients are: 
Carbohydrates, Proteins & Fats 
CARBOHYDRATES 🥦🍚🍠 Carbs are made up of chains of starch & sugar that the body breaks down into glucose. These are the body main source of energy & the brains primary source. 
PROTEIN 🥩🍗🍳 Protein provides amino acids, which are the building blocks of cell & muscle structure.
Protein in the body is used beyond just muscle - it is the core component of organs, bones, hair, enzymes and all tissue. Protein also helps support a healthy immune system. 
FATS 🌰🥑🥥 Fats are needed for brain development, making hormones & aiding the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K). They have the highest calorie count Oper gram, meaning that they require more energy to burn, but at the same time are helpful for increasing feelings of satiety, meaning they will keep you full for longer.

{ I was thinking very seriously about life today, and realized that we would all eat salads more often if we had someone to make them for us...😋 bonus points if they look like this one! }⁠

makes 4 servings ⁠
Ingredients:⁠
1.5 lbs. large shrimp, peeled and deveined⁠
1 Tbsp avocado oil⁠
4 boiled eggs cooked and peeled⁠
6 slices of cooked nitrate-free bacon, diced ⁠
1 cup of organic corn kernels(Corn is not Keto), either fresh or frozen - thawed⁠
1 large avocado, diced⁠
1/2 cup crumbed cheese of choice, feta or blue cheese are both great on this⁠
6 packed cups chopped romaine lettuce⁠
⁠
Fresh Lemon-Chive Salad Dressing:⁠
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt⁠
1/2 fresh lemon, juiced⁠
1 fresh garlic clove⁠
4 fresh chives⁠
sea salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste⁠
⁠
Instructions:⁠
In a blender or food processor, pulse all Salad Dressing ingredients until creamy. ⁠
Taste, adjust seasonings to your liking.⁠
Cover, and refrigerate until ready to use.⁠
⁠
Heat 1 Tbsp of oil in a large skillet over med-high heat; Add in shrimp and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until pink and just cooked through. Season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, then set aside.⁠
⁠
Arrange all salad ingredients on a platter or a large salad bowl nicely as shown, and when ready to serve, drizzle with dressing and gently toss to combine.⁠
