John Wick 3 Parabellum opens today worldwide. Half way through the Moroccan shoot we were in the Sahara. This isn’t a scene from the movie but director Chad Stahelski wanted John Wick, Sofia and her Belgian Malinois hounds in the dunes so we did this Special shoot. It was intense being so close to the dogs, no fast movements and on eggshells till they knew me.
Halle had to work with them for months. “It was about two or three hours a day,” says Berry, “helping as a dog trainer, getting to know them, having them get to know me, learning their personalities. We learned together what tricks the dogs could do. Some dogs were good at just sitting on their mark and looking pretty, and others wanted to jump off cars, through windows. So it was just about learning what each dog can do and how I could command them to do it.” The master Andrew Simpson and his team trained the dogs to attack on cue. They wanted me a week early to familiarise with the dogs but I was shooting on islands in the far north of Western Australia on #dirtmusicmovie so couldn’t and just had to wing it. Scroll through these pics. These guns were out for the first Show and Tell with Director Chad Stahelski for John Wick Parabellum. This was Feb ‘18 and you’ll will notice the hero guns were already built. That’s because we actually started on those in May of ‘17.
On his final inspection, he basically said he wanted everything for the film. There were a few changes and subtractions but it’s basically what we sent to Morocco.
It took 2 years lead time to dial in this movies guns. Right now we’re 2 years out for John Wick 4 and we’re already preparing for that show’s Show and Tell.
