Time for a weight check! 😃 And a little post about my piggies' weights ♥️ Some people ask me how I get my piggies so chubby and round - and I've even seen people worry that I overfeed them 😅
Firstly; none of my piggies are actually chubby or overweight. Plet is my biggest piggie, he is 1200 grams at the moment, which is a good weight for him. Mew is my smallest piggie, she is a little below 900 grams at the moment, and I am actually trying to get her to gain a little weight.
Piggies are not supposed to be super skinny - when you see a piggie move around, you'll notice they can stretch out - almost like a little ferret or they can sit like a tiny little ball 😊 So, the position they are in can make them look very differently - and it is impossible to actually estimate the weight of a piggie from a photo! Piggies also have different fur - Plet has really thick fur, which fluffs up a lot; making him look extra round.
A piggie, which is overweight (or pregnant), will start being more pear shaped 🍐 while a healthy piggie look quite potato shaped 🥔 Besides that; piggies from different places can be EXTREMELY different in size! My sister had a tiny little piggie, when we were kids - while mine have always been quite "big" 😅
And I just want to stress that I definitely don't overfeed my piggies 😅 They get some really great pellets about once a day and of course always have access to hay. They get greens once or twice a day (I will make a list of the veggies, I prefer feeding soon - I promise!) 🥒🥦🥕 Another important thing is exercise🏃🚴; and besides floor time, my piggies have a long cage which makes it possible for them to zoom around, whenever they want to. ...
