Today I completed the Pacific Crest Trail. For four months I backpacked across the entirety of California, Oregon, and Washington. This was over 2500 miles from the US/Mexican border to the US/Canadian border. I am incredibly proud of this achievement !! 😊.

Post trail reminiscing going though photos and I have tons to share from this trek. They are mainly from the Sierra Nevada range as I dub these mountains the Himalayan’s of the United States.

Looks a bit different this time of the year. Even though I’ve been through countless national parks, state parks & wilderness areas on this hike...Yosemite will always be my favorite place on the planet..

I know, I know—ultralight backpacking deaths are nothing to laugh about. If YOU need help keeping safe in the outdoors due to a dangerous addiction to ultralight gear, please consult an REI salesperson, an AT ridgerunner, or Dan Becker’s YouTube channel. You’re welcome in advance..

And just like that, people are finishing their long distance, thru and section hikes. Whether your final miles brought you to the northern terminus or somewhere in between - we’re excited for you. This was not an easy year for so many reasons, but many of you made it work, changed plans, took time to research, adapted and prepared.

Congratulations to all of those of you who have set goals—big and small—and are achieving them! It’s been a blast following along with all of you this hiking season.

goodbye wet hot American summer.

goodbye wet hot American summer ...

Ya girl made it to Washington 💪🏼👟
Took me longer than I thought it would - but finally made it to my last state!! Only 500 miles (800km) left! Excited about what Washington has to offer. And glad that I didn’t quit while being stuck in that green tunnel in Oregon (only thought about it 2463 times haha)
Now I gotta push some miles to avoid getting caught in the first snow storm. Washington welcomed me already with rain and cold nights. I guess I’m slowly feeling ready to finish and getting back to civilization - at least for a while. But for now, I’m just happy that this cute 91-year old granny lets me stay at her place to dry out my stuff and take a hot shower before I go back into the woods and get soaked again 🙃.

↟PCT Day 57
《Joshua, Your Climbing Days Are Over......》
-
//
Tortilla......
//
//
//
//
//
//

2653 miles / 4270 km walking DONE.
After 165 days on trail, April 12 - September 21, a little over 5 months, I have completed my PCT thruhike on Kearsarge pass walking the entire length of the US through its rugged mountains. 790 miles northbound, 1863 miles southbound.
20 snakes, 1 bear, 9 bad falls, 4 microspikes/crampons self-assaults, 33 zero days, 19 days with rain, neverending amazing people, worlds best views, lots of Fireball drinking, a bunch of gear & body failure, but still alive. This was epic, tiring, amazing, intense & special. So grateful.

This is what strength looks like.

Earlier today my amazing daughter, also known as my favorite hiking partner, completed her thruhike of the Pacific Crest Trail. She hiked all 2650+ miles, and did over 1000 of those miles completely alone. Through heat, cold, elevation, mosquitoes, thunder storms, and lots of snow she continued to put one foot in front of the other and embraced all that the trail had to offer. Her strength, wisdom, endurance, and grit are off the charts and I am so incredibly proud of her.

It was an honor to be with her today as she took her final steps to complete her life-changing journey. Congratulations, Vivian!
