🏰 “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚠️ A lot of you have been asking about my insta story posts from yesterday, the bruises on my arms, as for why do I go through this? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, I have a rare condition called Dermatomyositis and this is the only treatment that has consistently worked, even though its pretty much an alternative form of radiation-free chemotherapy. The first 2 years I didn’t have side-effects, now unfortunately I do get them inconsistently, feels horrible and it can set me back 2-4 days. I basically can’t function after getting it because I take post medication (that makes me super drowsy) to prevent my biggest side effect, a headache beyond any pain of any migraine I’ve ever had. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The condition I have alone, effects my skin, joints & muscles daily. Not all my symptoms are visually noticeable either. For example, my frequent episodes of fatigue (or as I like to say, “feeling like I got ran over by multiple buses”). Even though I try to plan my days ahead of time, my days always change the day of. Because everyday my body feels different. People think I’m “flakey”, “always late” or “exaggerating” when it comes to my social life. But all I can say is, just because I have a high tolerance for pain, doesn’t mean I don’t feel any. So be compasionat, so many people like me out there in silence because they are afraid to look “weak”. I hope this inspires someone to stop hiding and step out into the world with a voice, even if its just for a minute, progress is progress 💕.
